I'm Back and I Have A Lot of New Things Up My Sleeve

Hi there!

Wow! It has been a while since I wrote on here. I miss you all! I feel like infinity has passed, but I'm finally back and a few things are going to change around here, and some already have. If you were one of my previous readers, then you would have noticed that I have added some pages and changed the font and the About The Author sections on the side. I am also planning on changing the content of the blog. I feel like I haven't been taking advantage of all the potential the blog has and so I will now abuse it till the end of time *mwahahahaha*.

I'm going to continue to post about my progress concerning my goals, however I really liked writing the post I wrote about women revolutionaries throughout the years and I want to write more posts like that and share information I have learned with all of you. I also want to use the blog to help others, maybe by motivating someone or by raising awareness to a certain cause (and I definitely have a few).

For now though, I have many things to tell you! First of all, I'm going to the AHA expedition our school annually plans tomorrow, and it will last for three days. All of 9th grade is going to Wadi Rum, and from the sound of it's going to be exhausting. We're going to set up our own tents in the desert, then the next day we're going to walk ten kilometers (!). I don't know the intimate details of the plan, but I know that we are going to a walk a lot, hopefully my training in SheFighter will help me through this. Despite all of this, I know it will be loads of fun, since most of my friends are going with me, and almost all of the previous expeditions have been very fun.

Second, I have put my name on the audition sheet for next year's play, which is based on the Disney movie 'Frozen', which is an absolutely great movie. For the audition, I have to sing 'For The First Time in Forever', which I know word-by-word, but I am quite nervous, since I know my voice isn't really great. Nevertheless, I'm excited. If I do get in, I'll probably be one of the extras, but as soon as I know what will happen, then you'll know.

Finally, I want to report on my healthy eating goal, and I am very proud to say that I have actually progressed a lot with this goal. I started to replace unhealthy snacks with healthier ones, like fruits or low-fat yoghurt. My mom has also been working on this goal along with me and has been cooking healthier foods as well, like spinach and beans, and making salads with every meal. I also tried my hand with cooking. On Tuesday, I made Chicken Teriyaki (I got the recipe from over here) and an Avocado and Strawberry Dip (the recipe is here). For the chicken, I replaced teriyaki with a mixture of soy sauce and fish sauce, since we didn't have any teriyaki. I also only marinated the chicken for about one hour, so maybe it wasn't juicy as it looks like, but still it tasted really good! Also, for the dip, I replaced the tortilla chips with Doritos, since my mother couldn't find any tortillas, and I mashed the avocadoes, to make it easier to dip. You should definitely try these recipes at home, they don't take long and they taste really good.

Related to the the healthy eating, my friends and I went to an ice cream shop in Abdoun today. It's called Four Winters and it uses natural ingredients and makes the ice cream using liquid nitrogen right in front of our eyes. It has about 12 flavors, but the one I chose-Cashew Caramelt-tasted really good (which everything seems to taste like today.)

Hopefully you enjoyed today's post and I will be posting next week about my trip to Wadi Rum, with very amateur pictures. Have a great day/night!

Love you all!

-Yara :)

P.S.: The system I'm using to accomplish goals isn't completely satisfying my need for improvement, so I'm going to think up a new system/plan that can help me achieve all I want to achieve. Will tell you all about it when I have organized it and thought it through thoroughly.
